Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin killed by StingRay

Crocodile hunter "Steve Irwin" has been fatally stung by a Sting Ray this Labor Day weekend, off the coast of Australia.
Steve Irwin was shooting a documentary for his Crocodile Hunter show on Discovery Channel and was stung by a Sting Ray in the chest which from (AP) states a direct blow to the heart. on Batt Reef, off the remote resort town of Port Douglas in northeastern Queensland state, his wildlife park Australia Zoo said in a statement.

Crew memebers aboard Irwin's boat immediately administer CPR while he was rushed to the nearest hospital which was in the city of Cairns.

Medical staff pronounced Steve Irwin dead a short time later. Steve was well know for his unforgetable word "Crikey". Steve Irwin was brought to the public by his Australian based show Crocodile Hunter in 1992. He fastly rose to the public eye cause his care for nature and it's animal inhabitants.

Steve Irwin was a very gifted,thoughtful & charismatic man and he'll undoubtably will be much missed by his audience and friends.

Leaving behind his american wife Terri, from Eugene, Ore., and their daughter Bindi Sue, 8, and son Bob, who will turn 3 in December.

Steve Irwin was criticized for his feeding a 13FT reptile while his month old son was in his arm.

Steve Irwin and Teri meet on a vacation in Australia in 1991 the couple were arried 6 months later. Some later called Teri the crocodile Huntress.

Steve Irwin made it to the movies with his movie release in 2002 of "The Crocodile Hunter : Collision Course" .

StinRays are not aggressive ,but have a serrated spine with venomous tail that can sting. Some times divers accidentally step on them and not realize there presence.
